Measuring an organisations culture with a view to enhancing organisational performance is one of the most difficult leadership challenges. Culture comprises an interlocking set of goals, roles, processes, values, communications, practices, attitudes and assumptions. The elements fit together as a mutually reinforcing system and combine to prevent any attempt to change it! That is why single-fix changes may appear to make progress for a while, but eventually the interlocking elements of the organisational culture take over.
Our diagnostic phase is a multi-faceted approach which includes a Climate Survey, Leadership Interviews and Focus Groups, as well as uniquely, Leadership Profiling. Surveys, Focus Groups and Interviews are not new; their success rests on the questions being asked and the way they are communicated upfront and actioned upon final analysis.
What is unique to our way of working is that we have incorporated into our proposition Leadership Profiling as part of the diagnostic phase. We believe it is in the day-to-day behaviour of leaders that most people are informed about the ‘way things are done around here’; leaders shape culture and that culture shapes leadership behaviour. Leaders are both architects and the product.
Thus our approach is a fully comprehensive diagnostic process, which culminated in thoughtful and detailed analysis and recommendations for the way forward.
